New Executive Officer Appointed!
We are delighted to announce, that following Merv’s retirement, we have appointed Karl Gill as our new Executive Officer.
Karl brings DFES, Government and extensive volunteer and emergency management experience to the role. Karl worked at DFES in various roles over 10 years, was a member of the Rockingham Kwinana State Emergency Services for 18 years and is currently a member of the Baldivis VFES (both when it was a Bush Fire Brigade and now as a VFES Brigade) for 22 years holding positions of Captain, Training Officer and various Lieutenant positions.
He has also participated in Local Emergency Management Committees, Bushfire Advisory Committees, and more recently holding the position of Manager, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management at Rockingham Hospital within the South Metropolitan Health Services.
With the experience he brings, we welcome Karl to the role and I know he looks forward to catching up with all of our member Brigades, Groups and Units (BGU’s), and with his many contacts he has known throughout his professional and volunteering career.
Karl can be reached on 0437 820 002 or
It would be remiss of me if I weren’t to acknowledge the Committee members who stepped up to take on parts of Merv’s role whilst we sourced a replacement. I would like to thank Rob Cox and Lee Vallance for their time and commitment in visiting BGU”s and various committee meetings within DFES, and also Pam Hull for taking on our Social Media and website maintenance over the same period. Thank you to each for your time and commitment to the Association.
